About our Appointments System

Urgent Appointments

If you have an urgent problem during surgery hours, please call us on 01785 850226.

Each day the practice reserves a number of urgent same day appointments with the duty doctor. These five minute appointments are for urgent problems that on medical grounds cannot wait until the next routine appointment.

Please see our Urgent Problems and Out of Hours page for information.

Practice Team Training

The Crown Surgery, including the Dispensary, will be closed from 1pm on the first Thursday of each month for training.

General Information

All consultations are by appointment. Patients are booked at ten minute intervals but you are free to ask for longer appointments if needed.

Please make a separate appointment for each member of the household who needs to see a doctor. The doctors cannot guarantee to see people who are more than 10 minutes late for their appointment.

Patients may book to see any doctor at the practice; however, if possible, we encourage patients to try to see the same doctor for continuity of care. When making your appointment, please specify your preferred doctor and we will try to accommodate your request.

If appointments are fully booked with the doctor of your choice, you will be offered the first available appointment with another doctor. Patients are free to express a preference to see a particular doctor or nurse and should you wish to express such a preference, please advise Reception and a note will be made in your medical record.

Extended Hours

Our practice offers extended opening hours. These appointments will be especially useful for full-time workers who find in difficult to get to the surgery. Ask our receptionist for details and visit our opening hours page for details of the times.

Telephone Advice

The doctors do not routinely offer telephone consultations but patients may leave messages with reception. Although the doctors try to deal with queries as soon as possible they cannot guarantee to answer all matters the same day.

Chaperones

If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. For further information please see our Chaperones policy.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.
